I have seen a lot of teachers complain that they earn so much in the profession because the school they teach couldn’t offer to pay them much for their effort and also that the Government doesn’t really value them as one of the bedrock of the country.

If I were to be a Maths teacher, I would be earning a lot from home without teaching in any private or Public Schools in Nigeria.

We all know that maths is one of the core subjects in school, and a lot of people write it in WAEC and JAMB. Recent research shows that about 70% of students don’t perform well in these exams and are currently searching for how to get the best form of tutorial and mentoring.

The first thing I will do is to sign up on some major and notable E-learning platforms that connect teachers to parents and pay well. With this platform, I can share my knowledge with others and get paid for it.

Teaching on an online platform gives me enough freedom without any form of supervision from any school head or authority. This interesting fact is that most of these platforms pay in foreign currency which will make you earn even more than 500k per month.

One of the platforms I will utilize to achieve my goal is the Tuteria online learning platform.

From my research, teachers using that platform earn 185k for 24 lessons. A lesson takes up to 2 hours per day, so 185k is for 48 hours of teaching maths which is equivalent to 2 hours a day for 24 days in a month.

So if I am able to get two students from this platform, I will be able to get up to 370k as income after the platform has taken their 20-25% commission.

Topics like Circle Geometry, Bearing, Trigonometry and word problems leading to equations seem to be very difficult for students to the point that most of them find it very difficult.

What I will do is create a 15-20 minute video on these topics in order to help students learn and understand these topics at their own pace and make money from it. Believe me, thousands of students will never be eager to get these pre-recorded videos.

Tutor students who are preparing for exams (WAEC, JAMB, NECO, etc.)

Mathematics has always been a nightmare for those writing WAEC, NECO, and JAMB. What I will do is open an online and offline training class that will prepare people for the exam.

Imagine you open a JAMB class and admit 60 students for the tutorial ( 20 students in the morning hours, from 8 am-10 am, 20 in the afternoon, 12 pm- 2 pm, and 20 students for the evening class, 4 pm- 6 pm) and you charge them #10,000 per month, that will give you up to #600,000 per month.

Even if you remove all the incurred expenses, you will be making up to 500k as income monthly.

With the numerous topics in mathematics, creating videos will be very simple and once I am able to capture a wider audience and hit 1,000 Subscribers and 4,000 watch hours my account will definitely become monetized and I can start earning from my videos in dollars.

Gone are the days when teachers were poor, as a matter of fact, a teacher who is really knowledgeable in a particular subject can earn more than what will be paid when they teach in school.

The world is changing and I see no reason why a teacher filled with a lot of knowledge will still complain about how bad a school treats him when he can tap into the power of modern trends and start making money.
